New Details of iOS 4.2 Jailbreak & Unlock
Just a quick little heads up! iPhone Dev Team has just posted new details about the new iOS 4.2 untethered jailbreak and also they talked about baseband 05.14.02 and 02.10.04 unlock. iOS 4.2 will be released on Friday to bring lots of new features, so the Dev Team promises with lots of things that will satisfy our readers!
By all accounts, we’re within a few days of Apple’s official public release of Firmware 4.2. Here’s what you need to know:Better explanation? iPhone hacker comex could make untethered jailbreak until iOS 4.2 beta 3 (that's why you see it's SHSH in Cydia) and is working on extending it to final iOS 4.2. iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS will get Ultrasn0w unlock once iOS 4.2 is released while iPhone 4 will get it a bit more but as soon as possible ! So, stay tuned for some good news here !
- Thanks to geohot’s limera1n exploit, and our original pwnage2 exploit, and pod2g’s ipod2g-MC exploit, absolutely all devices at all iOS devices at all
- The untethered jailbreak of the very latest FWs and devices depends on @comex hacks. His hacks so far extend only to 4.1 and 4.2beta3. He’s working on a way to extend it to 4.2 and beyond. Just wait for him to work out his method.
- iPhone 3G and 3GS unlockers will be covered by our upcoming unlock. Stay away from any updates to Apple FW until our official release and you’ll be okay. Just stay away from all Apple IPSWs :)
- iPhone4 unlockers are not left out in the cold. @sherif_hashim has found some very promising avenues to pursue. Those will be explored as soon as possible after all the 4.2 madness.
What does this mean to you?
- If you’re an unlocker, just stay where you are. Please, just stay where you are. Any mistakes you make now may be permanent.
- If you only care about the jailbreak, feel free to experiment but keep in mind that any mistake you make may result in you losing pictures or notes or bookmarks that you’d rather keep. Honestly unless you love living on the bleeding edge, it’s better to just wait for official updates from Cydia/redsn0w/PwnageTool.
- Don’t buy or donate to any unlock or jailbreak scammers. Every legitimate solution you will find for unlocks or jailbreaks will be offered without an extended hand. That’s how this community works. It’s about freedom, not donations.

Here's what MuscleNerd tweeted in reply to the guy:
iOS 4.2 should be released early in November (this is very near). To sum it all up, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G on baseband 05.14.02 will get the unlock early in November. Stay tuned as we will keep you informed whenever iOS 4.2 is available and followed by the unlock.
Here's what MuscleNerd tweeted in reply to the guy:
MuscleNerd: if you’re on 3G or 3GS, just a day or 2 at most after 4.2 is public (just enough time to verify stuff)This reply brings both bad and good news, why? because he didn't mention anything about iPhone 4 baseband 02.10.04, this may indicates that iPhone 4 unlock may be delayed and not released at this time.

Limesn0w Unlock Tool Will Never be Real !
A few days ago we had hopes when we reported you about the Limesn0w unlock tool which was expected as a new surprise from Geohot to unlock basebands 05.14.02 and 02.10.04 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4G on iOS 4.1, but now Geohot cut in any doubt, when he announced that Limes0w unlock tool will never be real in his limesn0w.com website.
We have no choice but waiting the new unlock from the Dev-team, for who don't know, the unlock for the above mentioned basebands will be released after iOS 4.2 official release by November.

LimeSn0w to Unlock iOS 4.1 On its Way By Geohot?
It may be real! Geohot may surprise us (again!) with a new unlock solution for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G using Limesn0w. The video below shows iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.1 on baseband 05.15.01 unlocked using Limesn0w solution via Limera1n jailbreak which was released two days ago. It would be a real surprise.
Of course there's a lot of users have updated to iOS 4.1 and now their devices on baseband 05.15.01 or 02.10.04 which is not unlockable at the moment. So Geohot may really surprise us Limesn0w.
The domain http://limesn0w.com is registered by Geohot, the same info as http://limera1n.com but the site indicates that "This will never be real.", you know, surprises! Geohot didn't say any word about that, we'll keep you updated at any update happens.
[Thanks John & everyone else for the tip]

Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 with Ultrasn0w [How to Guide]
Have you jailbroken your iPhone 4 yet? Of course, yes! Geohot has released his Limera1n tool yesterday and it works with iPhone 4 very well (at least for me). If you have iPhone 4, you can upgrade to iOS 4.1 without updating the baseband then unlock it using Ultrasn0w. In case you already upgraded to iOS 4.1 while preserving your baseband, you will not be able to use this guide, just wait for a new Ultrasn0w update.
How to upgrade to iOS 4.1 while preserving your baseband 01.59.00
STEP 1: Download TinyUmbrella latest version from here and iOS 4.1 for iPhone 4 from here.
STEP 2: Close iTunes & connect your iPhone 4 to your PC then launch TinyUmbrella and select “Run as administrator”. If you got a Windows Security Alert, check both boxes and click on “Allow Access”.
STEP 3: Hit “Start TSS Server”. While the TSS Server is running well, TinyUmbrella will kill iTunes.
STEP 4: Now launch iTunes and click on the iPhone icon at the left sidebar of iTunes then hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) + Shift from the keyboard. Point it to the iPhone 4.1 firmware you already download.
STEP 5: iTunes will go in a bunch of steps to restore your device to iOS 4.1, it should give you error 1004 which indicates that the baseband is preserved successfully.
STEP 6: Get back to TinyUmbrella and hit “Kick Device Out of Recovery” to get your device out of Recovery Mode. let's unlock!
How to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 baseband 01.59.00 with Ultrasn0w
STEP 7: First, you will need to jailbreak your device using Limera1n jailbreak tool from Geohot by following the step by step guide posted here.
STEP 8: After jailbreaking, open Cydia and touch on Manage >> Sources >> Edit and hit the Add button on the top. Type http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com then hit “Add Source”.
STEP 9: After installing the repo, go back to Cydia and search for Ultrasn0w, tap on it and it will be installed automatically.
Well done, now you got iPhone 4 totally jailbroken & unlocked on baseband 01.59.00, congrats. We will be happy to hear your questions about any issues or problems facing you while following the guide.

Unlock Baseband 05.14.02 to Arrive After iOS 4.2 Release
We already told you that hackers as Sherif Hashim and Clayton Braash are working on crashing baseband 05.14.02 (iPhone 3GS, 3G) and 02.10 (iPhone 4). Well, the carrier unlock for those baseband won't be available for iOS 4.1. You will have to wait for iOS 4.2.
This was from unknown sources of Vincent:

Hackers Are Working on Unlocking Baseband 05.14.02 for iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.1
Here's a piece of good news! Last week, we told you that Unlock for iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.1 on 05.14.02 baseband is being delayed because both Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team are busy developing the jailbreak tool (based on SHAtter exploit) for all devices running iOS 4.1. The good one is that basband hacker Sherif Hashim has just confirmed to us that he is working on crashing baseband 05.14.02.
Sherif Hashem is a trusted member worked with the dev-team to crash baseband 05.13.04 on iOS 4 before which used in Ultrasn0w 0.93. So, if he could successfully crash 05.14.02 baseband, we will see unlock soon. By the way, there's a hacker called Clayton Braasch said that he found 4 crashes to unlock baseband 05.14.02, but this is 99.99% fake (as confirmed before), so don't get your hopes up about this hacker. As usual, we will keep you updated.
Update 1: Well, Sherif Hashim apologized to Clayton Braash and now I think they are both working on finding crashes to unlock baseband 05.14.02, hope they get it as soon as possible. Here's the potential unlock found by Braash in a video,

Ultrasn0w Unlock for iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.1, 05.14.02 Baseband Delayed
Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team are working hard to bring you a simple usb-based jailbreak tool to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on all devices including iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad, also new Apple TV. Of course some of you have upgraded to iOS 4.1 without preserving baseband, the baseband has been updated to 05.14.02 for iPhone 3GS or 2.10.4 for iPhone 4.
Ultrasn0w is the responsible tool to unlock all devices but Chronic Dev Team has to answer people with a simple tweet saying that they are both Chronic and iPhone Dev teams busy in developing the jailbreak tool which may be named GreenPois0n. So, they can't give an unlock for those stuck on 05.14.02 baseband.

To those asking about unlock: At this time, only the jailbreak is being worked on, as it requires the team’s full attention.Don't be disappointed. Once they finish the jailbreak tool for all devices, they will start working again on unlocking these basebands, but don't lame them because the one who should be lamed is you as you updated without putting in mind that you will be stuck.

This guide requires iPhone 3GS old bootrom on 3.1.2 (jailbroken with Blackra1n) or on 3.1.3 (jailbroken with Sn0wbreeze / Pwnagetool not with Spirit). If you have SHSH blobs of 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, use our guide posted here to downgrade, then jailbreak your device and follow the step by step guide below.
Note: Do it on your own RISK, we are not responsible for any damage happens to your device.
Step 1: Download the required files,
Step 3: Click on Expert Mode button, select iPhone 3GS, then hit the blue arrow.

Comex has Two Exploits to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2 [EXCLUSIVE]
As most of you know, we reported that Comex is working on iOS 4.1 userland jailbreak. We are just two days away from iOS 4.1 and it brings a lot of new features and bug fixes which stimulates people to upgrade to this iOS 4.1. Comex has two exploits for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.
According to yesterday's post, the developer is working on "Userland Jailbreak" on iOS 4.1 for all devices but if the boy failed to do so, we will receive a new tool that acts on the device's bootrom. Let's explain it more..
The userland jailbreak uses an uses a loophole in iOS itself, just the same as his last two tools, Spirit and JailbreakMe. This exploits can be caught by Apple easily and closed in the next iOS upgrade. This method is untethered jailbreak and it's the exploit used in the video below by Geohot.
Unlike userland jailbreak, the second exploit acts on the hardware of the device itself. In brief, Apple can't close this hole as it must change the internal components of the device to protect against the new tool. Apple only can close this hole in the new devices!
In brief, Comex will use the userland jailbreak which uses the exploit on iOS itself to jailbreak iOS 4.1. The second exploit will be used on iOS 4.2 when it's released in November if he didn't fail to jailbreak iOS 4.1. The two exploits were discovered by p0sixninja, one of them used by Geohot to jailbreak iPhone 4. In summary, the jailbreak in one way or another is will be released. Now just wait for iOS 4.1 release in the next two days. We didn't hear anything about unlocking iPhone under iOS 4.1 but Planetbeing may be working on this.
Update 1:Pod2g's Exploit Successfully Works on iOS 4.1 check details here.

Dev Team: No iOS 4.0.2 / iOS 3.2.2 Jailbreak, Wait for iOS 4.1
JailbreakMe was released few weeks ago to jailbreak iOS 4 / 4.0.1 on iPhone 4 / 3GS and iOS 3.2.1 on iPad. Comex discovered a security hole in Apple by installing Cydia on your device as PDF files, so Apple released iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone and iPod Touch, iOS 3.2.2 for iPad to fix PDF exploit . iPhone Dev Team said that there's no jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2, just wait for iOS 4.1 to be released.
iOS 4.1 is still in beta, so they can't decide if they can jailbreak iOS 4.1 or it still not jailbroken. So we have to wait till iOS 4.1 released on September, can it be announced in Apple's special event on September 1st? or it's a musical event to announced iPod Touch 4G and iTV.
You can expect a jailbreak to be available after Apple pushes iOS 4.1 to public, You will be able to jailbreak with JailbreakMe again if you have your iOS 4.0.1 SHSH blobs saved, or you will have to wait longer!
In meantime we have guides for jailbreaking and unlocking your devices, If you are on iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G, you can use the guide posted here to jailbreak using Redsn0w on iOS 4.0.2 or older. For iPhone 3GS stuck on iOS 4.0.2, you can just use the guide posted here to jailbreak iPhone 3GS old bootroms with PwnageTool either use JailbreakMe guide posted here to jailbreak older firmwares. For iPad users, there's no jailbreak for iOS 3.2.2, just use Jailbreak guide posted here to jailbreak iPad on iOS 3.2.1. Simply, unlock all devices using Ultrasn0w 1.0-1.

No, there won’t be. FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was *only* released to fix the jailbreakme hole. With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the “cat & mouse” with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, “the only winning move is not to play”.Dev Team just wanted to tell users who updated to the latest iOS firmware and are stuck without a jailbreak, "don’t expect a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 / 3.2.2"
If the cat & mouse game escalates too quickly, especially during beta FW periods, nobody but Apple benefits. For this reason, there won’t be a 4.0.2/3.2.2 jailbreak specifically during the period where 4.0.2/3.2.2 is the latest public release. At best, some future 4.1x FW jailbreak *may* be compatible with 4.0.2/3.2.2 (but don’t count on that).

Apple Applied for a Patent to Disable Jailbroken Devices
U.S. Corts already made Jailbreaking and Unlocking iPhone fully legal, But Apple will still fight jailbreaking by upgrading iOS devices to kill the jailbreak, Not only that! Today, Apple has applied for a patent titled "Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device", which will allow it to remotely disable an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch if it detects any unauthorized activity such as hacking, jailbreaking or unlocking the iOS-based device.
Ars Technica posts:
Ars Technica posts:
The patent, titled "Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device," describes several ways a device could sense who is using an iPhone or iPad. Among the methods considered are voice print analysis, photo analysis, heartbeat analysis (!), hacking attempts, or even "noting particular activities that can indicate suspicious behavior."They didn't mention anything about jailbreaking, but they mentioned "hacking attempts", Good move Apple! So will you still jailbreaking? Or Apple will really stops you from jailbreaking and unlocking iDevices?
The device could automatically snap pictures of the unauthorized user and record the GPS coordinates of the device, as well as log keystrokes, phone calls, or other activity.
Once an unauthorized user is detected, the device can then automatically disable certain features or send notifications to Twitter or other services.

Apple Locked Digitally Signed For iOS 4.0.1/3.2.1
A few hours ago Apple has blocked the digital signature for the firmware 4.0.1 and 3.2.1 , so now it is impossible to restore to an earlier iOS version. From now users can't save SHSH files to Cydia or Apple for iOS 4.0.1 and 3.2.1 or lower.
so those who upgrade to firmware 4.0.2 will no longer able to restore or unlock their iPhones, in addition who upgrade his iPad to 3.2.1 will no longer able to unlock his iPad.
But for those who have already saved SHSH files as we mentioned before, they will have no problem see guide posted here.
I highly recommend to all those who have not saved SHSH and want a jailbroken device, don't upgrade to iOS 3.2.2 for iPad users (iOS 3.2.1 already jailbroken here) and if you are an iPhone user don't upgrade to iOS 4.0.2 (iOS 4.0.1 already jailbroken here).
For iPhone 3G users, it is already jailbroken on iOS 4.0.2 using reds0w here.
